In order to ratify the amendments to rules of our society, we are holding a special general meeting on 5th September at 7pm. All shareholders are invited to attend.
How to use and preserve your harvest workshop.
This will take place here in the kitchen on Saturday 17th September from 10-4pm. It includes lunch and is a very enjoyable and informative session with Elaine Mc Keogh from Good and Green and will include 2 sessions. The morning session will include a garden walk to harvest veg, salad and herbs and to help prepare the lunch of soup, tarts, salad and cake (yum) and the afternoon will look at preservation methods through drying, freezing, infused oils and using sugar, salt and vinegar. It will include a demo on chutney, pickle and jam making with recipe ideas included. I can recommend this course, Elaine has a wealth of knowledge and is a bit of a magician when it comes to good food and here she will de-mystify for a mere €25. Places limited so book through the co-op asap at 061 921 536
Sheelagh Lennon and 7 others are going on a two week pilgrimage to Tibet on the 15th of September, visiting sacred Buddhist sites. As part of the pilgrimage they are doing a 3 day trek of 50 KM on Mount Kailash, a sacred mountain in Tibet. It is also a sacred place of pilgrimage for Bon, Hinduism, and Jainism.
They are doing this as a fundraiser for the new temple at Dzogchen Beara, Allihies, in West Cork.
